Footnotes and Witness
Have you ever wondered if you are good enough to read the Bible? Does it feel like you aren't qualified? I grew up in church so I thought I knew how to read it; I didn't! With a few footnotes, I want to share the resources and tips that opened the Bible for me. The word finally started to feel like that "living" word I always hear about. If you follow Christ, you have the Holy Spirit and that means you are qualified to read God's word. If you want to be, this is a great place to dip your toes in the water and see what this whole Jesus thing is all about. I believe that when you read about God's true character, from His own words, you won't be able to stop telling people about how your life is saved and changed. Jesus wants us to tell our story because it is HIS story. See Jesus rightly in the Bible, and see Him in your story.

703 Mark Chapter 1 finished
This week we are finishing our discussion on Mark Chapter 1. With each miracle, we are observing 3 things (CPR): the category, the people present, and the result. Try to remember that Mark is the firs gospel written and therefore should be read without the influence of the other gospel accounts if possible.
First story today is in vs 29
- Jesus heals Peter's (Simon) Mother In Law
- category: authority of health and disease
- people: Jesus, Peter and Andrew, most likely James and John and the MIL (a case can easily be made for Peter's wife to be in attendance as well)
- result: MIL is so completely healed that she is up and fussing over her guests
- vs 32-34 Crowds come to the door and Jesus heals many
- category: authority over spiritual and physical
- people: townspeople, Jesus and crew
- result: nothing explicit
- vs 40-45 A leper approaches Jesus on the road for healing
- category: authority over physical and shows reverence for the law
- people: leper, Jesus and his traveling companions
- result: leper tells everyone and Jesus can no longer enter towns without causing a fuss
